Visa Interviews in London

The following guidance is from the Consular Section at the US Embassy in London:

Location and directions: As of January 16, 2018, all appointments are scheduled at the Embassy of the United States of America, 33 Nine Elms Lane, London, SW11 7US. To reach the new Embassy, we recommend traveling by public transport as there is no public parking available.

The closest Tube (Victoria Line) and rail station is Vauxhall. From Vauxhall, it takes approximately 10 minutes to walk to the Embassy; proceed from Vauxhall Tube station Exit 1 for a riverside walk or from Exit 4. Alternatively, the Embassy is two stops by bus 156, 344, or 436 from Vauxhall Bus Station, Stop E, to Elm Quay Court. Battersea Park and Queenstown Road railway stations are also nearby.

When you reach the Embassy, proceed to the South Pavilion Consular Services entrance. Please arrive 30 minutes in advance of your appointment to allow sufficient time for airport-style security screening.

Appointment date and time: Please confirm the date and time of your appointment at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/.

Prohibited Items: Please do not bring laptops, suitcases, glass bottles, or large bags (i.e. cabin baggage size or larger) as they cannot be admitted into the new Embassy. Unfortunately, there are no storage facilities near the new Embassy at this time. However, you can store prohibited items in lockers at the Victoria or Waterloo rail stations.

You are permitted to bring your mobile phones, tablets, and e-readers and use them in the public areas. Please visit our website for more information on what you can bring into the Embassy.

IMPORTANT: You MUST bring several documents with you to your appointment:

  • Your valid passport;

  • A paper copy of your appointment instruction page (you will have received this in an email; please print it out and bring it with you);

  • A paper copy of your DS-160 visa application confirmation page. After you submitted your visa application online, this was available to print. You can still print it at https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/default.aspx. Option C will allow you to retrieve and print it.

At present, there are no vendors near the new Embassy that can print your documents. Applicants without these documents will likely be rescheduled for later in the day or asked to make a new appointment.

Visit our website at https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/ and select the appropriate visa category to obtain a list of additional documents that might be required for your visa category and a printable guide to preparing for your visit.

After your interview: If your application is approved at the interview, routine visa processing takes approximately 3- 5 working days plus a further 1- 2 days for delivery. You can check the delivery arrangements you made at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/niv. The courier will contact you with delivery tracking information when visa processing is complete.
